Violet Buonauro's Departure Sunday, April 13, 2008 Yes, it's true. Long-time members of Zion will depart for the North! Their two daughters are living in Missouri and have invited the couple to live with them. They will leave shortly on the sojourn to the northern climes. The last Sunday in Baldwin County was April 13, 2008. Zion Lutheran Church recognized the couple with a coffee fellowship following the morning service. Although we missed Jerry for the festivities, we understand that he has felt uncomfortable in crowds and has not attended large-people events for a number of years. What going-away party would it be without that fancy cake. Violet Buonauro poses with cake and its "sponsor" and long-time Zion friend, Henrie Burnett. No tears, but you can almost see Henrie's "We'll miss you, Violet." Vera Avera, (clockwise beginning at 7:00), Thelma Luoma, Milt Luoma, Elsie Wren, Ruth Sanftleben, Norm Sanftleben, and Jim Morgan shared in cake and fellowship. Gus Utter got an early start on that cake, but others soon joined him at his table. It was "goood." Congregational Council Chairman, Peter Midgarden (standing), concluded the event with... ...a presentation of a picture book of Zion memories. He addressed the crowd briefly during the presentation.
