Pete Midgarden
Repairs Fellowship Panic Bar

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

The story starts with a "bum" doorlock. The panic bar on Zion's Fellowship Hall south entrance broke a spring. Problem: No one could replace the spring, so the issue was, does Zion buy another panic bar for about $400? Click each photo to enlarge.

Peter Midgarden and Peco Forsman took the bar assembly apart and figured out what was needed and then reassembled the door bar.

Pete came back a day later and removed the thing.

In the meantime Peco had fabricated a new spring assembly in the lock. Pete brought the panic bar lock over that. Peco reassembled it with the new parts. Pete came back with tools in hand to complete the bar assembly on the door.

Pete attached the repaired part to the panic bar before attaching the whole works to the door.

Things are back together and Pete puts the gadget back on that Fellowship Hall door. Thanks, Pete!
