Robertsdale Gideons Host Local Pastors

     Bob Pawson explained, "We Gideons are now distributing Bibles in 194 countries." That is remarkable for any organization seeking to distribute God's Word on behalf of the local churches from around the world. "It is pure evangelism," Bob will tell you. Pawson is one of 150,000 business men seeking to support the evangelism of the 21st Century church and is the president of the Gideon's "Baldwin Central Camp #604."

     The "camp"- most of us would call it the local chapter - hosted Central Baldwin pastors for lunch at Mama Lou's on Saturday to foster contacts of this Bible distribution organization with churches of our area. The camp seeks to report on its activities to local congregations, to recruit Bible-believing business men into the Gideons, and to seek prayer support.

     The Gideon ministry is ecumenical and non-denominational. Baptist and Methodist can sit at the same table and eat the same food and share the concern for the spreading of God's Word together. Click to enlarge.

     The Gideons have positioned themselves as men of the church, willing to do Bible mission for the church, and able to apply all donated funds directly for Bible acquisition and distribution. (All donations buy Bibles--distribution and shipping costs are picked up by the business men of the Gideons.)

     Local pastors sometimes need a bit of encouragement to take time to spend with one another. The Gideon luncheon fostered contact with friends we often miss seeing because of our ministerial calls to local congregations.
