In past years, Zion has had bake sales, sponsored fish fries, and even entered a float in the parade. Also pictured is the 1987 “Viking Ship” float made by the Nitteberg family.

Invocation for Heritage Day October 21, 2006 Pastor Dave Johnson
Scripture: Psalm 119:111 - Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
To Think About: We have a heritage that makes the heart glad. The psalmist is talking about God and His Word. We can be happy in that. Today we have a community heritage day, a time to consider what God has done in this place, our heritage because of God's works in Silverhill. So, we can explore our past and see what God is doing right now in this place. Let's ask the Lord's blessing on this day.
Prayer for the Occasion: Dear Lord, thank You for being our Great Heritage forever. We thank You for this Silverhill Heritage Day and thank You for a time to remember past events which reveal Your lovingkindness to us. Thank You for Silverhill and for forefathers with vision for the future. Give us eyes to see Your path for Silverhill that we may honor You with wise decisions. Bless this day, now, and the heritage You have given us. Bless those who come, bless our friends and families and vendors, and especially our civic boosters who have worked so diligently for the success of this event. We ask these things in the Name of Jesus, first raised in the Svea Company Land Office over a hundred years ago by Swedish Baptists, Swedish Coventers, and Swedish Lutherans. Amen
