In Memory of
Pastor Charles Jolliff

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23-24

Zion Lutheran Church honors the life and ministry of its longest serving lay pastor, Pastor Charles C. Jolliff. Pastor Jolliff served the congregation from 1972 to 1994, after receiving a commission from retiring Pastor Clarence Daniels "to pastor Zion Lutheran Church with only one stipulation, that Christ be preached."

Embracing a vision for expansion of Lutheran ministry in Baldwin County and using Zion as a base for outreach to the growing snowbird community commencing in 1989, he sought to nurture and grow new Lutheran churches in our county. Even as he moved on from ministry at Zion, he continued his work of fostering church growth at other sites in Baldwin.

In recognition and honor of his ministry to us at Zion for 22 years, the Church Council on behalf of his many friends and admirers at Zion Lutheran Church, does hereby commission 22 Gideon Bibles to the work of expansion of the Kingdom of God and our Lord Jesus Christ in the memory of Zion's Lay Pastor Charles Jolliff.

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen." 1 Timothy 1:17

Charles Jolliff passed away on June 15, 2004. The 22 Bibles represent one Bible for each year of his ministry to Zion. A recognition certificate will also be presented. Each of his two daughters will receive one, and a third will be displayed in Zion’s museum.
