Men's 710 of 2004
Each second Tuesday of the month, Zion Lutheran Church hosts a Men's Fellowship, which includes a complimentary breakfast and a special guest speaker beginning at 7:10 a.m. in the Fellowship Building to last about an hour. Visitors are always welcome to leave early if work schedule requires.

Men's 710 - December 14, 2004
Phil Owen explored insurance issues in Baldwin County. He is licensed to sell insurance in the areas of Life, Health, Disability, Property, Automobile Liability and Physical Damage, Fidelity and Surety Coverages. A resident of Silverhill, focusing on individual, family, and business insurance needs, Phil has served our area as an insurance agent at ALFA Insurance in Robertsdale for over 20 years.

Men's 710 - November 9, 2004
Founding Member and Director of the Baldwin Pops, Joe Riemer, was November's speaker. The Baldwin Pops currently is comprised of band directors, music teachers, and a variety of professional and amateur musicians with membership open to all. About 100 band members donate time to rehearse most Tuesday nights at the Fairhope Civic Center or High School. The public is always invited to come to one of their ten free concerts a year to hear classical, Broadway, big band, Dixie, jazz, marches, and much more. Men's 710 - October 12, 2004
Shannon
Lipscomb, Exploreum Speakers Bureau, presented an overview to the
Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibition which is coming to Mobile, January 20 to
April 24, 2005. The fragments discovered in 1947 in Qumran revealing the
life and times of people 2000 years ago, comprise a portion of the

Men's 710 - September 14, 2004
Bob Frederick, Assistant Scout Executive for the Mobile Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, was this month's guest speaker. This Scout executive with a tenure of 30 years shared information relating to the Scouting program in Baldwin County and Alabama and his view of the 21st Century through a Scout's eyes.

Men's 710 - August 10, 2004
Former FBI Agent, John Palmer, explored personal security issues at this month's meeting. John shared information relating to personal security, both at home and away. He discussed a variety of topics, including general personal security issues, purse snatching and muggings, car jackings and rape, motel and hotel security, home and auto security systems, ATM precautions, and personal weapons and alternatives.
Mr. Palmer is an accomplished speaker who works with "Metro Crime Prevention of Florida" which seeks to "achieve a heightened awareness of current criminal threat facing everyone in today's society and show effective measures to counter that threat." He notes that just next door to Baldwin County a "violent criminal act occurs in Florida every 22 seconds!"

Men's 710 - July 13, 2004
The Service Coordinator for Heart to Heart Family Resource Center, Melanie Wilks, was our July guest speaker.
Melanie Wilks updates inventory in Robertsdale at Heart to Heart Family Resource Center. The ministry currently is welcoming donations of diapers for infants and young children.
Melanie has served as a counselor with Sav-a-Life of Baldwin County, located in Robertsdale, for the last nine years. Her counseling skills are not limited to her specialty areas of counseling for abstinence, post-abortion, and sexual abuse recovery. Melanie is also the "You are Unique" Coordinator for the Sav-a-Life Ministry in Baldwin, a program that enables teens and young children to understand the importance of good self worth and emotional and physical purity.

Men's 710 - June 8, 2004
County Extension Agent Sonya Wood Mahler presented the program, "Backyard Wildlife Habitat" at the June Men's 710. Breaking with tradition, men and women were invited to hear this exceptional speaker. Ms. Mahler, a resident of Foley, was able to share her expertise in habitat as applied to backyard flora and fauna and is a resource in Baldwin County. Men's 710 - May 11, 2004
Judge Robert Earl Wilters was the May invited guest. Judge Wilters fielded a variety of questions related to delay of cases getting to trial, best interests of a client and justice, the process of decision-rendering by a judge, the independence of judges and the impact of fairness on decisions, the shift of law with time, the place of faith and God's guidance in making wise and valid judicial rulings, and the role of the electorate in selecting responsive judges reflecting its life style and life experiences. Men's 710 - April 13, 2004
Karl Gibbs, director of Camp Dixie near Elberta, presented the challenge of camping ministry in the new millenium at the April breakfast meeting. Affectionately known as "Doc," Gibbs is a recent "transplant from Missouri" who was sought out and given a letter of call by the Camp Dixie Governing Board and welcomed to Baldwin County to nurture a Lutheran youth program that continues to build faith and leadership skills in young people from a variety of denominations from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Men's 710 - March 9, 2004
Jim Meredith, a Red Cross Disaster team volunteer accompanied by George Boyer, Howard Sumrall, Richard Wright, and Paul Felber, who do disaster work with Jim after major storms were guests of the March breakfast. These men are also builders, having recently completed work on a small church on Dauphin Island, at the Home Of Grace in Whistler, and on a variety of other projects. They are good examples of retired folks involved in community service.
