Lutheran Build Project Scheduled for Robertsdale in February
Ned Owens is at it again, coordinating another Habitat-related building project in Robertsdale. He noted at Zion Lutheran Church's "Men's 710" for December that Baldwin County’s “Lutheran Build” has been working with Habitat for Humanity since late 2007. With the funding help of Thrivent for Lutherans and the twelve Lutheran churches in the county, Lutheran builders have fabricated a home from the foundation up in 2008 and 2009 using 200 volunteers working 1900 hours. For these two years, Thrivent has donated $96,500, the churches $13,000 and the Habitat “affiliate” $34,000, for a total of $143,500 for the two homes.
Ned Owens, holding a fund-raising paper bank for churches, explained how funds raised for the Lutheran Build project with Habitat for Humanity, will help build a home in Robertsdale.
The plan for 2010 is to build another Habitat for Humanity home in February with Thrivent covering $53,625, the local Lutheran churches $8,100, and the Habitat affiliate picking up $20,625 for a total of $82,500. Tentatively, the home will be located in Robertsdale, east of Highway 59. Volunteers will be needed and appreciated as Lutherans of a variety of synods work together to be a blessing.
