Recognition of Work with Scouts

Eagle Scout, Austin Gibbs (r) presented a Recognition Statement and Silver Scouting Lapel Remembrance to Long-Term Scout Volunteer Peter Midgarden on Behalf of Zion Lutheran Church on February 27, 2005, Zion's 2005 Scout Sunday. "Mr. Pete" is retiring from active participation in the Scouting training program.

     The Zion Lutheran Church congregation of Silverhill recognized long-term Scouting volunteer for service to the community in developing leadership among young men and their parents in Silverhill as "Mr. Pete" retires from Scouting. Zion especially appreciated the Scout Law which maintains that "A Scout is reverent." The Recognition Certificate read:

Be it known by all present that on the 27th of February, in the year of our Lord 2005, the Official Scout Sunday for Zion Lutheran Church,

Peter Midgarden

is recognized for services to Zion Lutheran Church's Community of Silverhill in developing leadership, integrity, and godliness among young men in Cub and Boy Scouts.

Whereas "Mr. Pete" has expended many days and hours for many years in building character among the young men of Silverhill;

Whereas he has always attempted to instill knowledge and wisdom and a spirit of reverence in young men and their leaders;

And whereas he has been an example and mentor to many local men and women in Scout leadership and has exercised his responsibility in such a way so as to foster a good rapport between the Zion Lutheran Church fellowship and the people of Silverhill involved in Scouting;

The Zion Lutheran Church Council recognizes Peter's gift of service, works, and faith in our Scouting community and does additionally acknowledge this event on his formal retirement from Scouting with a silver lapel pin with the Scouting logo, token of Zion Church's appreciation for Mr. Pete's Scouting Work.
