Banner to Visually Present Lenten and Easter Story

"The idea has really been around for a while," Pastor Dave said. "What we want to do is bring people into the worship experience by what we do. Music does that. Liturgy and scripture do that. But the new thing we have here is a 'sequential banner' which tells the story of Christ's Lenten journey leading to Easter."

Steve Vasko holds up the worship banner.

Steve Vasko holds up the worship banner handiwork of wife Becky Vasko and Darlene Tasso. The banner was fashioned to give a visual key to the journey of Christ to Jerusalem to die for the sins of humanity on the cross of Calvary. The banner was fabricated specifically to augment mid-week Vespers worship during Lent at Zion Lutheran Church located a block off State Highway 104 at 15875 4th Avenue at 7th Street in beautiful Silverhill.      Visitors, friends, and neighbors are invited to midweek worship and to view the Tasso-Vasko handicraft as Zion Lutheran Church uses this banner in its Evening Vespers at 7 PM, beginning with Ash Wednesday, February 25. Worship will follow a light "Soup and Sandwich Supper" at 6 PM and message by visiting Pastor Jim Rasmussen. The supper and Vespers schedule will continue through Lent till April 1. Maundy Thursday worship on April 9 will complete the supper and Vespers schedule. A Tenebrae service will complete Zion's Lenten worship schedule at 7 PM on Good Friday, April 10.
