A Silverhill Invitation to Pray for Our Nation and Its People
The world and its finances are in distress. Our nation will complete a VERY long election cycle on November 4. People in our communities are perplexed. Jesus Christ told His disciples about tough times coming, but He also talked about the importance of prayer: Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36) That was 2000 years ago.
Hundreds of years before that, the Prophet Isaiah assured the people of Israel that God was faithful in hard times. In fact, Isaiah records God Himself speaking to the nation: "Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) God has assured those who follow Him that He cares for people, especially those who seek Him out: If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Silverhill's Zion Lutheran Church, on the corner of 4th Avenue and 7th Street, invites the communities of Baldwin to pray for our nation and its people on Election Day. Its church sanctuary will be open for prayer and meditation from 7 AM to 8 PM, November 4.
