Dear Zion Members,
Thank you for your prayers and support for the men and women serving with Jeremy Gibbs in Afghanistan. He expressed his concern that many of them get no packages or letters or cards from home. He is good to share with them, but would like for our church to offer support.
We can do this through prayer, by sending cards of encouragement, and preparing care packages to be mailed to them throughout the year.
I thought I would prepare mailing labels and cards that you can pick up each Sunday. If you wrote a few words of encouragement and drop it in the mail, we could ensure the troops are getting mail regularly.
I am also going to put two boxes at the back of the church; one for snacks and one for toiletry items.
Here is a list of items they could use.
Snacks:
Beef jerkey, peanut butter/cheese crackers, cookies, chips, pop tarts, granola bars, nuts, trail mix, hard candy, drink mix (crystal lite).
Toiletries:
Hand sanitizer, baby wipes, body powder, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, bath soap, shampoo, stick or gel deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, lotion, foot powder, body powder, lotion.
Athlete’s foot is running rampant right now, so anything to treat that would be good. They don’t have anything to treat it over there, so spray or cream would be good.
Thanks for your support! Mack and Linda Gibbs
