Summerdale's 20th Annual National Day of Prayer will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, May 5, at the Summerdale Municipal Complex, which is located at 502 Lee Street (1/2 block east of Highway 59). Lunch will be provided at no cost following the prayer service.

Dr. Joe Savage

Dr. Joe Savage, Director of the new University of Mobile Center for Leadership and the Twelve23 Movement (www.twelve23.org), will share the National Day of Prayer vision for Summerdale, May 5, at 12 PM.

The speaker for this year's event will be Dr. Joe Savage, Director of the new University of Mobile Center for Leadership and the Twelve23 Movement (www.twelve23.org), a rapidly growing organization that seeks to spiritually transform America. Joe has literally helped tens of thousands of people around the world through his speaking, writing, and humanitarian projects. He is a popular speaker at both church and corporation functions and in recent years his weekly inspirational devotion has become the most requested of devotional of its kind in the National Football League. Joe recently relocated to Daphne, Alabama, and has given vision and leadership to three significant ecumenical events along the Gulf Coast: 1) "Mobile Festival of Hope," 2) "Worship at the Wharf," and 3) "Baldwin County Festival of Champions." Joe is the author of More of God, More of Me: A 40 Day Guide to Bring You Closer to God and is a contributor to the soon to be released Chicken Soup for the Soul: Athletes of Faith.

Charlie Canning of Silverhill's Zion Lutheran Church will share in the prayer time in this event.

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Day of Prayer reflects the desire to foster unity within the Christian Church; protect America's Constitutional Freedoms to gather, worship, pray, and speak freely; publicize and preserve America's Christian heritage; encourage and emphasize prayer, regardless of current issues and positions; respect all people, regardless of denomination or creed; encourage wise stewardship of God's resources and provision; and glorify the Lord in word and deed.
