In sacred memory of Sergeant Charles Frank Sturma (USA) [53842607] of Silverhill, Alabama; a casualty of the Vietnam War.
Charlie was a proud member of the United States Army where he served as an Infantry Sergeant.
Sergeant Sturma served our country in South Vietnam with honor and dignity from April 22nd, 1968 until March 9th, 1969 when he was killed by small arms fire while in combat action in Quang Tin province. His body was recovered. Charlie is interred with honors in Silverhill Cemetery, Silverhill, Alabama. He was 24 years old and unmarried.
Charlie was born June 27, 1944 and entered the service from Silverhill, Alabama. He was a graduate of Robertsdale High School Class of 1962 where he was an outstanding student, friend, and athlete. Prior to entering the military, Sergeant Sturma attended Troy State University. The accompanying photograph of Sergeant Sturma is from South Vietnam. Sergeant Sturma is honored on panel 30W, line 097 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Charlie served our country for one year.
