Chapter 28
RETURNING HOME (VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES)
It was Ruby and Neal's visit to my home town of Taal last year that moved me to visit my old country and my birthplace. Ruby and Neal found my house as I described it to them, preserved by the people who bought it from my family. They fell in love with the hospitality and goodness of the people and the beauty of the place.
Ours will be a sad visit. All my loved ones except a nephew and grand nephews and grand nieces and perhaps grand relatives I have not seen in my life are gone. But it will be a memorable and happy one for others. Shirley and I have made arrangements with the Taal Rotary Club to give a grand Christmas Party to the orphans of the Labac Orphanage in Taal. The mayor of Taal with whom I have been in constant communication, will be present at that party at the orphanage which I have finally found after leaving my lovely town over sixty years ago looking for one.
Tomorrow, December 14, we start for our trip to the Philippines, taking the plane in Houston on the 18th that will take us to my old country. We arrive there on December 21.
Thank you, Lord, my God!
