During 2011 and 2012, Zion Lutheran Church Men hosted a Breakfast Fellowship, which included a complimentary breakfast and a special guest speaker in the Fellowship Building. Men and Women were invited to attend.

    Kent Owen spoke about his experiences in China.

    After graduation from Troy University, Kent Owen spent 4 1/2 years living and working in China.


  • Bring a Buddy to Breakfast - May 19, 2012
    Our special guest speaker was Jim Harmon, Public Relations/College Coordinator of Baldwin County Sheriff's Boys Ranch in Summerdale.

    In 1984, the Boys Ranch was established in Summerdale, on land that was donated by John B. Foley. The campus now includes two ranch homes, a chapel, gym, pool, office, two staff houses, the boys college home, and support buildings. The boys attend Foley First Baptist church on Sundays and Wednesdays.

    Ranchers attend Foley and Summerdale schools where they participate in activities such as sports, academic clubs, band, and ROTC. Highlights for the year include: annual fishing and beach trips, concerts, campouts, church youth activities including mission trips, and cookouts.


  • Bring a Buddy to Breakfast - February 4, 2012
    Joy Sterling and the Silverhill Writer's Group were our guest speakers. This group has many published writers.

    Many may know Joy Sterling as the wife of Rev. John Sterling, retired pastor of Silverhill Covenant Church, but she is also a published writer.

    Joy Sterling has been writing stories, essays and poems nearly all of her life. Her first work was published when she was only age eight. Her latest work is Words Of Joy, a compilation of many of her lifelong writings, which weave together nicely to reveal an inspirational life story.   • Bring a Buddy to Breakfast - September 24, 2011
    Dr. Stephen A. Lyrene held a discussion on mental health issues in Baldwin County, with a question and answer time.

    Dr. Lyrene, a Psychiatrist at the Family Center in Fairhope, specializes in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. He has been a practicing psychiatrist in Baldwin County since 1994, working at the Baldwin County Mental Health Center, Thomas Hospital, and his own private practice.

    He was born in Baldwin County and graduated from Robertsdale High School. After receiving his MD from the University of Alabama, Dr. Lyrene practiced psychiatry at the Menninger Foundation from 1986 to 1994 before returning to Baldwin County.
